AssertivenessAssertiveness is sometimes confused with aggression or is viewed as the alternative to being passive or allowing other people to get their way. When we say we want to increase our assertiveness we usually mean we want productive alternatives to being passive or simply allowing others to get their way. People who are overly aggressive also need to increase their assertiveness skills in order to improve their relationships. Behaving assertively allows individuals to be more effective in their professional and social lives. An environment of assertion in an organisation tends to deliver a happier, more productive workforce. |
