What Makes A Great Coach?

  1. They don’t want to be the person they’re coaching
  2. They never do it for the person they’re coaching
  3. They keep their own ego in check
  4. They focus on inputs not outputs- the causes of success not the success itself
  5. They have insight into the workings of the process that they convert into increasing the coachee’s conscious competence
  6. They are passionate learners themselves, constantly updating their own knowledge
  7. They are interested in the transfer of knowledge, skill and technique
  8. They motivate through the effective application of their ideas. The coachee gets excited when they see themselves quickly improve!
  9. They create a legacy of articulated best practice
  10. The coachee seeks them out, no great coach has to impose, cajole or impose themselves, their insights create a ready audience
